After a two year, ongoing run in Japan, Dragon Ball Super has finally made it’s way overseas to the US. Acting as an interquel of the ten year gap between the end of the Majin Buu arc and Chapter 517/Ending of Z, Dragon Ball Super details the adventures of the Z Fighters prior to Goku taking Uub with him to train as the next hero of Earth. The first two arcs act as retelling of canonical films “Battle of Gods” & “Resurrection F”.
Dragon Ball Super is a 2015 shounen anime series, it is produced by Toei Animation and licensed by Funimation. It is currently available on Blu-Ray & DVD in English.

While many have waited years for the opportunity to watch Dragon Ball Super, in all honesty the first two arcs aren’t that much different from the original film versions. The minor anime only changes made to elongate the story for TV are at the very least fun & enjoyable, especially when viewing both versions back to back to compare the differences.
THE GOOD: If you haven’t seen the film version (for some reason), the Battle of Gods arc is still a fresh entry into the Dragon Ball mythos. Antagonist Beerus becomes a likable character as the arc goes on, and it’s great seeing the original Z-Fighters on camera again for more than ten minutes. The battle between Goku & Beerus was classic Dragon Ball Z action, and is sure to delight those new to the arc.
THE BAD: Not a whole lot of incentive for those who saw the film.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: Dragon Ball Super is excellent for those who missed out on the film, but mainly deja vu for those who have. Certain anime version moments are a nice touch to spread out the story however. Otaku Dome gives Dragon Ball Super a 70 out of 100.
