Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Attacks? is a comedy series about an overly attached mom and her son who have relationship problems. Naturally, in typical anime fashion the only way to help solve these problems is by being transported into an online video game. The idea seems cool at first, until main character Masato comes to realize that his mom is more powerful than he is in the game world.
THE GOOD: So a few things I’ve learned watching Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Attacks? (or ‘Okaa-san Online’ as it’s often referred to for short) is that the premise is a bit wild, it’s a bit different from the light novel source, and the incest is fairly blatant in this version compared to the source material when it apparently was barely a thing there. This is obviously for comedic effect, and it works if you’re into that with the ecchi scenery and what not. I like the whole parent/child bonding theme behind it all and there’s room for that to be the saving grace of the series upon it’s end. It could make Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Attacks? more appealing to those looking to try something new from their general anime genre circles.
THE BAD: As if the premise alone wasn’t enough indication this is a comedy series so expect a ton of ecchi and a bit of incest jokes here and there.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: I’m not a big comedy guy when it comes to anime, but so far Okaa-san Online seems fine. I should probably reiterate the fact that I’m not really an ecchi anime fan so I may be a bit bias honestly. Still though, for the four episodes that’s available I’d recommend it to my anime friends who dig the genre. Otaku Dome gives Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Attacks? an impressions score of 68 out of 100.
