Coming from video game analyst MauroNL on Twitter news is being reported that the Playstation 4 and Xbox One versions of Dead Island 2, the long in development sequel to Techland’s Dead Island is now going to be on PC, Playstation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The game was originally announced in 2014 with Yager Development being set to develop, however publisher Deep Silver cut ties with Yager forcing them to drop the project moving it to another developer in Sumo Digital, this would lead to the game being moved once again to current dev Dambuster Studio. The project has been facing multiple development issues in addition to studio changes and it seems the last generation console versions may have been at the core of those issues. You can see Mauro’s tweets on the matter below:
Dead Island 2 is moving to a release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC only. Current developer Dambuster Studios lists the game for “Next Gen Consoles and PC platforms”. The studio is also hiring for programmers with experience in DirectX 12 and DirectX Ray Tracing.
