DC Entertainment and WB Pictures announced at SDCC 2017 that Shazam! currently starring Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam (main character Captain Marvel has not yet been cast). David Sandberg is currently directing the film, with Henry Gayden as the scribe. Shazam! is currently set to be a two-part film, with part one focusing on Billy Batson/Captain Marvel, and the second focusing on Johnson’s Black Adam. Production beings in early 2018, this would put Shazam! ahead of forthcoming DCEU films The Flash, Cyborg, and others. If cameras beginning shooting as early as January, a 2019 release is likely for part one. This report was originally published on The Hollywood Reporter.
