When Titans had been announced way back during its days as a pilot on TNT, one thing that was largely noticeable was the absence of a key member of the current team the series is based upon (mostly the 1980s version) and that was Cyborg. Early press releases had confirmed the involvement of Nightwing, Starfire, Beast Boy, Raven, and even Hawk & Dove but we never really caught wind of Cyborg’s existence within the shared universe and many expected that the series had limited to no use at all for the character due to him having a big role in the DCEU. However, Cyborg has indeed been confirmed to be apart of the DC Universe…universe as per the official log line of Titans’ spinoff Doom Patrol which reads:

“DOOM PATROL is a re-imagining of one of DC’s most beloved group of outcast Super Heroes: Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Girl and Crazy Jane, led by modern-day mad scientist Dr. Niles Caulder (The Chief). The Doom Patrol’s members each suffered horrible accidents that gave them superhuman abilities — but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found purpose through The Chief, who brought them together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence — and to protect Earth from what they find.

Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of super-powered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. Picking up after the events of TITANS, DOOM PATROL will find these reluctant heroes in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg, who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse, but with a warning that is hard to ignore: their lives will never, ever be the same

So Cyborg definitely exists in DC Universe, but the big question is his role in all of this. Is he just being borrowed for this arc? Or is he a full-time member of Titans? It could be entirely possible that Cyborg is already a member of that universe’s Justice League hence him giving the Titans and Doom Patrol a specific mission. Cyborg could also be potentially aiding in the creation of the Titans East team as an explanation of his absence which was an arc featured in the 2003 animated series. As of this writing no casting for Cyborg has been made for Titans & Doom Patrol. Titans releases this year, while Doom Patrol releases in 2019 exclusively on DC Universe.
