An article on Bloody Disgusting has revealed that Child’s Play franchise creator, writer, and producer Don Mancini is currently developing an eight episode first season for a Child’s Play TV series. No word on the premiere date or network, but Mancini has stated that voice actor of Chucky Brad Dourif is signed on for the project to voice the killer doll and the series will continue to shift into a much darker tone. Each episode is scheduled for an hour run time.
“We plan to use Child’s Play in the title,” Mancini explained. “We want to definitely signal that we are going dark, darker than ever before. It’s going to be very creepy.” Mancini told Bloody Disgusting.
“I don’t think there’s a relationship that lasted this long,” he stated. “I’m incredibly excited about the series and to explore a world in which we’ve never done before.”
Mancini currently serves as a writer for SyFy’s Channel Zero and is in the process of working on the eight installment of Child’s Play’s film series. Mancini also stated the series takes place immediately after Cult of Chucky.
