According to reports Jeff Jarrett will be making an announcement that he will be opening up a new major wrestling promotion which is likely to rival WWE and TNA. Toby Keith who was rumored to have been in the running for purchasing TNA, will be a financial backer of sorts, for those wondering Keith is an apparent wrestling fan and has been for some time. He can even be seen in attendance at some events, but with Keith financially backing a promotion it could be really troublesome for would-be rivals WWE and TNA. Keith’s estimated net worth last year was said to be $320 Million, if true thus new major promotion wouldn’t have to suffer the money problems TNA Wrestling has unfortunately gone through in recent years.
Jeff Jarrett will likely handle most of the creative side of things, he’s likely learned a lot from his time in TNA where he had most of the control over the company creatively, but the most shocking news of this rumor us the apparent link of Jim Ross to Jarrett and Keith’s promotion. A few days ago Ross stated that he had a meeting with a “major sports concern”, however a fan responded to Ross’s tweet mentioning the rumored wrestling promotion and his possible involvement after Ross confirmed that he visited Toby Keith for dinner, Ross replied to the fan without denying anything, which is something Ross has been known for in the past.
Jim Ross was the head of Talent Relations for WWE during their best years, Ross found & signed such talent as Brock Lesnar, Shelton Benjamin, and other top stars during his time with the job. Many have noted Ross’s eye for talent in the past including Triple H, Jim Cornette and others. With rumors of WWE looking to no longer sign established indy talent and TNA ignoring them as well, this new promotion has potential to take some major Indy talent under it’s name if Jim Ross is some how involved with it’s talent relations. Indy fans have a loyal following and if big talent is signed to this new promotion, they’re likely to follow, and with the creative minds of Jeff Jarrett and Jim Ross working together fans could be in for one hell of a ride storyline and creative wise.
With Keith’s wealth they shouldn’t have any problem signing whoever they wanted, which may lead to some top stars from both WWE and TNA jumping ship to this new brand. Jeff Jarrett’s NDA/contract with TNA Wrestling officially expires today, which allows him to speak freely about his future plans including this possible new promotion. Will Jeff Jarrett and Toby Keith announce a new major wrestling promotion or is this just internet rumors?
