After years of rumors and speculation it seems as if Dave Bautista, better known by his ring name Batista will indeed be returning to the WWE, perhaps in time for the WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view as an shock entrant, which has become a bit of a signature for the program these last few years. This report originally steamed from an Las Vegas ticket vendor site which surprisingly mentioned the wrestler turned Hollywood actor by name. Wrestling news site PW Insider stated that their sources within the company can confirm that Batista has indeed signed what looks to be a short-term contract.

Though how long wasn’t detailed, it will likely come to an end or halt around August, when Batista is scheduled to do promo work for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy in which he has a major role in. Vignettes are expected to begin airing within the weeks leading to the Royal Rumble, it’ll be interesting to see if Vince McMahon and company attempt to hide the identity of the person behind them, logically though you’d think that they’d show as much of the former World Champion’s appearance as humanely possible in order to increase the buy rates for the Rumble. If Batista is indeed returning, then things will get very interesting storyline wise. It’d be interesting if Batista is inserted into the current Authority angle.
