In news that many speculated upon Young Jump’s reveal of an “important Tokyo Ghoul” announcement set for October 12th, Marvelous has confirmed that the long-awaited third season of Tokyo Ghoul will premiere in 2018, season one and two of the anime were produced by Studio Pierrot, while season one received acclaimed, season two (Root A) was released to mixed results due to it being an original anime only story written by series mangaka Sui Ishida, it is currently unknown if Studio Pierrot will be working on season three, also Natsuki Hanae will return to voice Ken Kaneki/Haise Sasaki, no other VA staff information was released, which leads me to believe that a number of returning characters will be recast, check out the teaser trailer below:

Tokyo Ghoul is currently airing Tokyo Ghoul: Root A in English on Toonami’s Adult Swim block on Saturdays. Both seasons one and two are available on DVD and Blu-Ray, as well as streaming platforms under Funimation’s license in America. The sequel to the original manga; Tokyo Ghoul: Re recently finished up it’s run in Japan with 143 chapters as did the original manga in 2014. There is no word on Ishida working on a part three for the manga. In Tokyo Ghoul :re a memory erased Ken Kaneki leads a young team of half-ghouls working for the CCG under the new identity of Haise Sasaki. The manga ran from October 2014 to October 2017. Tokyo Ghoul:re’s anime adaptation is currently scheduled for 2018. Tokyo Ghoul:Re debuted in America under Viz Media on September 2017.
