Warnermedia appears to be in a revival happy mood lately as following the acquisition and revival of former Netflix original Tuca & Bertie for an upcoming second season the company has announced three more revivals. This time Adult Swim will be reviving three animated classics in Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Metalocalypse, and The Venture Bros. The revival will be apart of a trio of direct-to-video and VOD films. Each movie will be releasing on Blu-Ray. DVD, and VOD first before making their premieres on Adult Swim and HBO Max.
Aqua Teen Hunger Force was originally cancelled back in 2015 following a running gag of multiple seasons with new subtitles. Metalocalypse was cancelled in 2013 with creator Brendan Small attempting to revive the project with a film finale that was semi-successful. Venture Bros. was only recently cancelled in 2019, however Adult Swim had announced their intentions on finding a way for the series to continue. Where as Metalocalypse’s film appears to be the series finale Small had hoped for the case for Aqua Teen and Venture Bros seems like efforts to bring those series back full-time if the film descriptions are anything to go by. No release date has been set for either project, but their respective synopsis can be seen below:
