Cory: Well you can’t really judge the difficulty by playing online. Different people Different skill levels. Some matches I completely stomped a team, Other matches I was getting stomped myself, All luck of the draw really. Capturing the Domination points to get rid of the other teams tickets actually took a decent enough time to capture them. Something I thoroughly enjoyed, Actually DOING the objective instead of worrying so damn much about getting kills. Of course kill’s help, But if you don’t play objectively and just try to slaughter the other time you are only playing half of the game, and SERIOUSLY pissing me off.
Victor: I agree about playing objectively, give the players a reason to beat each other senselessly (virtually). I thought about using a vehicle once or twice, but wasn’t fully interested, did you or Nathan use one? If so how are vehicle controls?
Cory: I could never get a helicopter in the 2 days I played it basically nonstop. The tanks and jeeps though were pretty pleasantly simple, Though personally I’m usually the guy running around and jumping building to building trying to protect the points. Vehicles are well done, Easily killable with the right tools, and a BITCH when the right person is using them.
Victor: Ha that reminds me, I nearly took out a tank with a grenade, which was fairly awesome. It seems they’ve gone the extra mile for realism, at least from my (admittedly small) knowledge on weaponry.
Cory: That is true, The sniper itself is SO real, You have to set the estimated distance yourself, if you have a fellow reconner beside you he can pull out is.. lpd? I think that’s what it’s called and use that infrared scope to map out the enemy and the distance for someone and still get a relatively good amount of points.
Victor: That’s pretty awesome, I’m more of a tank guy who goes head first “into the battlefield”, so you won’t really catch me using a sniper in shooters unless it’s A. Necessary or B. Forced (i.e. the mission requires it). Unfortunately it didn’t seem like destructible environments were added to the beta, understandable, but a bit of a disappointment, and I fear it might be a “campaign’ only thing.
Cory: They had promised the destructible terrain and from what I saw almost everything was fairly destructible. I was protecting C on the Siege of Shanghai map with the skyscraper and a tank busted in shooting the building up and destroying a good portion of it, Though some things are still indestructible it was a great attempt. I think this was a great test and needs a bit of work but this is a game I could see myself to play for a good long while.
Victor: I noticed that windows were breakable to create new cover, this of course is nothing new in the FPS genre, but I felt it was worth mentioning due to my previous statement. It’s nice to know that tanks have that much power, when Battlefield 4 releases I think I’ll definitely be more invested into it compared to Battlefield 3.
Cory: So far so good I believe. I have lost and been made cover thanks to someone in a Tank. There were also other really cool options where you could raise shutters, Raise these.. blockades from the ground so vehicles couldn’t cross unless someone got out and hit the button to lower them. I thought that was a great addition, Just being able to interact with the environment to make yourself a little more able to protect yourself.
Victor: I need to play and experience more from the beta, but from what both me and you have played Battlefield 4 is shaping up to be a major improvement over the previous game and may provide some legitimate competition to Call of Duty: Ghosts.
