The second half of the Attack on Titan Live-Action film comes home to DVD and Blu-Ray. Taking place during the events of Eren’s first titan few shifts, the Survey Corps face off against the monstrous titans, this time however, a certain titan in question happens to have intelligence.
Attack on Titan Live-Action Part 2 is an 2015 sequel film to Attack on Titan Live-Action Part 1. It is produced by Toho Pictures and licensed by Funimation Films. It is currently available on DVD and Blu-Ray.
Continuing from where the first film left off, Eren Yeager is now a titan shifter, and after encountering titans with intelligence he looks to aid Shikishima in a plan to overthrow a corrupt government. However, when Shikishima’s true motives are revealed, things take a different turn.
THE GOOD: The good news? Attack on Titan Part 2 improves upon the initial release in just about every way imaginable. The Toho designed Titans are still absolutely amazing and terrifying, the intelligent Titans even more so. While fans may not like the edited canon in the film, at the very least the film is given a fairly satisfying ending with room left for a potential sequel.
THE BAD: Some may have to view the story edits from a non-fan perspective in order to truly enjoy both films.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: Attack on Titan is a fair, though admittedly disappointing first step into modern anime film adaptations. The film will definitely entertain for those who aren’t fans of the franchise or fans with open minds. The Toho designs for the Titans simply can’t be ignored if nothing else, and actor/actresses are god enough to give the film’s entertainment value a solid foundation. Otaku Dome gives Attack on Titan Part 2 Blu-Ray an 73 out of 100.
