Assassination Classroom is an 2015 shounen anime series, it is produced by Lerche and licensed by Funimation. Season One’s first half is currently available in English on DVD and Blu-Ray.
Assassination Classroom is a funny, faithful adaptation of Yusei Matsui’s manga of the same name. Covering most of the manga (including the final chapters in season two), Assassination Classroom will provide tons of joy for fans of the source material with its crisp animation, funny moments, and solid action scenes.
THE GOOD: Assassination Classroom is a rather faithful adaptation of its source material. It’s a genuinely funny comedic anime series, and while the action is there it should be kept in mind that it isn’t its strongest suit, mainly due to Assassination Classroom being more comedy oriented than action. A lot of main and side characters get a respectable amount of time and feel important to the series, which is always great to see with a multiple amount of characters.
THE BAD: As mentioned the action isn’t that impressive, but keep in mind this is a comedy shonen.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: Fans of the original manga series will be impressed by Assassination Classroom’s faithfulness to the source material. The humor is actually quite funny, and while laxed on action, Assassination Classroom provides balance with great comedy, a nice looking animation style, and an overall enjoyable series. Otaku Dome gives Assassination Classroom Season One Part One an 89 out of 100.
