Anohana The Flower We Saw That Day is a slice of life, romantic comedy with a bit of a supernatural twist. After their friend Menma dies, Jintan and his friends haven’t seen each other since childhood. Now in their high school years, Jintan has become a shut in and isn’t currently attending a high school, and most of his old friends have seemingly moved on following Menma’s death.

THE GOOD: If you have a few hours to kill and want a more than solid slice of life series, then Anohana The Flower We Saw That Day is definitely a good option. With only 11 episodes to it’s name it’s a short, but sweet series dealing with the effects of loss at a young age, coping with said loss, and managing to move on in a healthy way, which lead character Jintan initially struggles with.

Not even death can keep good friends apart.

THE BAD: It has a very limited run with only 11 episodes and no OVAs to soften the blow, however there is an animated film continuation and live-action film adaptation if you’d like to check them out.

A great way to shave off a few hours from your day is Anohana The Flower We Saw That Day.

OVERALL THOUGHTS: Anohana The Flower We Saw That Day may be one of the shorter anime series of it’s type out right now, but it does a good job of getting the message across. In some ways it’s short run gives it a bigger advantage than having a more spaced out episode count as the story doesn’t suffer from pacing or filler because of it. Otaku Dome gives Anohana The Flower We Saw That Day TV Series Box Set Blu-Ray an 85 out of 100.
