Aniplex of America has shared the details for the release of several DVD and Blu-Ray sets for North America, as well as announced the upcoming releases for the stream premieres of Sword Art Online: Alternative and Persona 5: The Animation, both of which will air on Hulu and Crunchyroll.

Sword Art Online: Alternative a spin-off of the popular light novel anime adaptation will begin airing new episodes beginning on April 7:

The new series centers on main character LLENN, voiced by Tomori Kusunoki (Slow Start, Marchen Madchen), and features the same world as the “VRMMO Gun Gale Online” where Kirito and Sinon met in Sword Art Online II. The cast also includes Yoko Hikasa (The irregular at magic high school THE MOVIE –The Girl Who Summons the Stars-, WAGNARIA!!) as Pitohui, Kazuyuki Okitsu (Nanana’s Buried Treasure, Charlotte), as M, and Chinatsu Akasaki (Fate/Apocrypha, ERASED) as Fukaziroh.

Characters:

 

LLENN

VA: TOMORI KUSUNOKI

A petite female player, less than 150 cm (4’9”) tall. Possessing high AGI, her specialty is close combat that maximizes her speed. Loves anything adorable, and dresses entirely in pink. Her main weapon is the P90, which she calls “P-chan.”

PITOHUI

VA: YOKO HIKASA

LLENN’s friend – a tall, beautiful girl with a tattoo on her cheek. A veteran GGO player, but an enigmatic figure; nothing is known about her except that she is a hardcore gun freak, using a different gun for every play.

M

VA: KAZUYUKI OKITSU

A male player, who is an acquaintance of Pitohui’s. A hulking giant, over 190 cm (6’2”) tall, he excels in mid-range to long-range combat and is especially trained in sniping. Cool-headed and skilled at strategizing, he serves as the team adviser.

 

FUKAZIROH

VA: CHINATSU AKASAKI

An acquaintance of LLENN’s, and a female player just as petite. With her character converted from the VRMMORPG [ALO (ALfheim Online)], she holds high stats. Taking full advantage of the overwhelming STR, she fights with two multiple-grenade launchers.

 

Persona 5: The Animation will also air beginning on April 7 with new episodes:

Key creators of the original game reunite for the highly anticipated series, including sound composer Shoji Meguro providing the stylized and jazz-themed soundtrack, Katsura Hashino credited for the Original Concept, and ATLUS’s own Shigenori Soejima providing the series’ Original Character Design. Critically acclaimed animation studio A-1 Pictures (Sword Art Online, Blue Exorcist) will produce the series with Director Masashi Ishihama (ERASED, Your lie in April) bringing the game to the TV screen. The series also features an all-star voice cast who also voiced the game, including super star voice actor Jun Fukuyama (DURARARA!!, Blue Exorcist, WAGNARIA!!) as protagonist Ren Amamiya, Mamoru Miyano (Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, DURARARA!!) as Ryuji Sakamoto, Nana Mizuki (Blast of Tempest, VALVRAVE the Liberator, WWW.WAGNARIA!!) as Ann Takamaki, Tomokazu Sugita (The irregular at magic high school, The Asterisk War, March comes in like a lion) as Yusuke Kitagawa, and Ikue Otani, the legendary voice of Pikachu, as Morgana.

A second-year high school student, who just moved to Tokyo and is transferring to Shujin Academy this spring. Following a particular incident, Ren’s Persona awakens. He finds lodging at a coffee shop on the outskirts through his parents’ connections, and is about to begin his student life in the city.

A second-year high school student at Shujin Academy. Though he is compassionate and fiery, he is labeled a problem child and avoided at school due to his outwardly rude behavior.

An honor student in the fine arts department at Kosei High School. He attracts more than a few stares with his handsome look, but exudes an air of eccentricity. A strange, cat-like creature full of mystery. After being saved from a Palace by Ren, who had initially wandered into the Metaverse, it decides to live under the same roof with him. Despite its tendency to hurl insults, it is a very devoted friend.
