For the first time in fifteen years, Vin Diesel returns as Xander Cage in the titular role of xXx (Triple X), an athlete turned into a spy for the NSA under a secret program ran by the government. Having faked his death after the events of the first film & short film, Cage lives a not-so quiet life as a civilian with his own rules, that is until a colleague of Gibbons sends the former spy back on the field after a dangerous satellite controlling weapon is being used in the wild.

xXx: Return of Xander Cage is the 2017 third installment of xXx trilogy, it is produced & distributed by Paramount Pictures. It is currently released on Digital HD and will be released on DVD & Blu-Ray tomorrow.

After a twelve year hiatus xXx is back, with an even longer hiatus for the return of original star Vin Diesel coming to an end. In the second sequel Xander is forced to return to the field after the apparent death of friend Gibbson and reunites with some former allies of the xXx program, including Ice Cube’s Darius Stone.

THE GOOD: If you’re a fan of the xXx franchise then there’s a ton of fan service, from Diesel’s return, to Donnie Yen kicking ass, to even Ice Cube & Samuel L. Jackson making a cameo. Speaking of action sequences, the scenes featuring Yen and the member of his character’s crew were very enjoyable.

The return of Xander means the return of action, athletics, and sex lots of it.

THE BAD: If you aren’t already aware of what you’re in for with the previous two films, then you’ll likely not enjoy “Return of Xander Cage”.

Diesel & Yen had some fantastic chemistry.

OVERALL THOUGHTS: xXx: Return of Xander Cage is an excellent reentry into the franchise for fans of the series. With great action sequences, sweet callbacks to previous films, and great chemistry between co-leads Vin Diesel & Donnie Yen, the third installment will bring delight to its intended audience. Otaku Dome gives xXx: Return of Xander Cage Blu-Ray a 70 out of 100.
