Vampire Knight is an Shoujo anime series that’s animation is charming, with an easy enough to follow story. The cast of characters from Humans to Vampires in a High School setting fleshes out a unique look into the Vampire genre.
Vampire night is an 2008 Shoujo anime series, it is developed and produced by Studio Deen, and distributed by Viz Media. The entire series is available on DVD and several different streaming services, including Hulu, Netflix and more.
I’m not much of a fan of romance anime, but the charming animation style of Vampire Knight brought some intrigue. The Complete Collection brings all 26 episodes of Vampire Knight & Vampire Knight Guilty into the span of 4 double sided discs (13 episodes between the two series).
THE GOOD: The story in Vampire Knight is rather interesting, a group of Humans act as protectors over a group of Vampires inside the confines of an average looking High School. Only a select few are aware that these Vampiric students are indeed Vampires. The Vampires and Humans are split between two different classes, Day & Night, respectively, and the Humans who are chosen to know the existence of the Night class’ true origins act as guardians, just in case the Night Class decides to cause trouble.
The comedy and animation used in Vampire Knight help the series avoid feeling like an average Vampire romance. And the character designs had a bit of cuteness to them, which is rare for this genre.
THE BAD: If you’re not into either genre, then there won’t be much reason for you to find joy in Vampire Knight, though the setting and character designs might convince you otherwise.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: Vampire Knight is a great romantic, Vampire anime series that has a unique setting and uses comedy as a sub-genre. This along with it’s character designs help it strive away from being an animated Twilight. However, if you’re not into either Vampire comedies or romantic comedies, then Vampire Knight doesn’t give you much reason to pick it up, other than perhaps the setting and character designs. Otaku Dome gives Vampire Knight the Complete Collection an 80 out of 100.
