Splatter: Just Harder Times, this game honestly surprised me, I highly underestimated it when I first saw the trailer, the only thing that really caught my eye when I first laid eyes upon it was the immense destruction rot everywhere.

I didn’t look much into the features of this game before I started, I like to be left surprised, I find it gives a game more potential when you scour upon things you really enjoy, and I found a significant amount of things about Splatter I liked.

Some of my favorite things about Splatter were, the upgrade system for one, I’m a sucker for any sort of upgrades or leveling systems, so this one really surprised me. It’s a simple upgrade system but it works, you get cash, find a workbench, and simply click upgrade on which gun you’d like to advance upon, and it’ll give it an extra feature such as a laser sight, rate of fire, or more damage.

I was extremely surprised to run into scenarios which where you needed to make harsh decisions, I loved that, always a fan of a “do it your way” type of game, and to have those decision take a heavy toll on your gameplay and story just helps you immerse more into the world.

Other small things I enjoyed were the graphics, they were simple yet satisfying, the atmosphere of the world left it with a good feel, the good feel also taken into a creepy heart racing thrill at some moments when zombies were massing. The shadows and ambient lighting were impressive as well, I enjoy in games when the flashlight is essential, I found myself creeping into pitch black rooms wary of what I was gonna find next.

Also a few RPG elements added to the game which were nice, being able to talk to NPC’s and learn a bit more, taking on side quests to give you more content, and backup when needed.

The only thing I can really complain about is two things, one in which was a technically issue that was probably on my part, and the story. I couldn’t really follow the story much, maybe if was just me, I honestly enjoyed the game for it’s gameplay and graphics, the mass destruction you can cause was fun, destroying cars with single ease, causing tons of carnage, and since zombies are in high hype why not just toss those in as well, you can’t help but to feel like a badass after slaying a horde on your own with a mass array of weapons.

In the end, I enjoyed the game, it’s worth a play-through, and it kept me hooked with it’s features, the developers of this game did a nice job, so I’m raring to see what holds in store for them in the future.
