Rayman Legends has finally hit the next-generation of video game consoles. With improved graphics and new gameplay modes how does it compare to the original version of the game?
Rayman Legends is a 2013, side-scrolling, action-adventure platforming game, it is developed and published by Ubisoft. It is available on Playstation 3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii U, and now the Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
If there’s one video game genre that I love, it’s plaformers. From Mario to Prince of Persia the platformer has always had a special place in my heart, and has since I was a kid, but one platformer I had always heard about, but never actually played was Rayman. Something about the style both in gameplay and art just didn’t appeal to me, but upon the release of Rayman Legends I decided on with holding my judgement because the game just looked too good to pass up, and t has to have been one of the greatest gaming decisions I’ve ever made.
THE GOOD: The levels in Rayman Legends are shirt, but sweet, however if you’re a perfectionist gamer like me and want to get the total 600 score of lumen for the gold trophy or want to rescue every teensie then things will be challenging for you, which makes the game even more fun. There’s also a ton of unlockable content such as extra characters and even paintings that bring characters back to levels from Rayman Origins, conveniently titled “Back to Origins”.
Each world painting ends with a musical level based on the theme of that world, and every single one is absolutely fantastic. My favorite level has to be “Castle Rock” the music and actions you need to perform in order to move forward are so in sync with each other that you’d be more than willing to play it over a hundred times and still not get tired of it. There’s also extra mini-games such as a soccer game and multiplayer/co-op.
THE BAD: As mentioned above if you’re a perfectionist gamer then some levels will get difficult while getting every lumen or teensie. There’s also cheap deaths a plenty, and sometimes they’ll get completely ridiculous.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: Rayman Legends is fun and addictive as hell. With plenty of unlockables and even more levels available the game provides a lot of content for Rayman fans. The musical end world levels are an absolute treat to play and the co-op and mini-games brings even more more addictive fun. Cheap deaths will make things difficult for gamers with a perfectionist/completionist mindset.
