Diablo III has finally launched to consoles, but is it worth moving from the PC version? Find out in our review.
Diablo III is an 2012-2014 action-RPG developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. It is available on PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and soon PlayStation 4.
Multiplayer in action.
If you’ve played Diablo III on PC, then there isn’t very much we can tell you that’s new in this review, but considering this was my first go at Diablo III it’s not like I had much choice in the matter, just thought I’d give you a quick heads up, so don’t expect to hear about some big new feature. On to the review below.
THE GOOD: Diablo III is a great action game, the fact that Blizzard got rid of the controversial DRM and added in “couch co-op” to the console edition is a big plus. It’s an easy game to pick up and play, with a fair enough level of difficulty for any newcomer to not get frustrated while playing. You can play with up to four people both on and offline.
Co-Op Team taking on a few enemies.
THE BAD: One thing I found annoying about Diablo III was that there was very limited character customization. From what I saw you could only really give your character a name, sure there’s armor and equipment you gain along the way, but there’s no deep character customization such as face, skin tone, hair, etc. This is the kind of thing that annoys me when a game like Diablo III is so dependent on the internet.
What the hell is that thing?
THE UGLY: Things felt a little too easy at times, especially when you could spam the right analog stick to dodge your enemies’ attacks.
Good old fashioned dungeon crawling.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: Diablo III Console Edition is a nice port and Blizzard did a great job polishing some mistakes they made with the original PC release, but it still has some flaws. The fun factor is there, but things felt too easy with the dodge control. Couch co-op was a smart move, but why no depth in character customization?
