The Nintendo Switch version of indie horror game Perception has been dated:

Boston, 24th of October 2017:

Following Perception’s launch this summer on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, The Deep End Games is excited to announce that their narrative psychological thriller will be coming to the Nintendo Switch on October 31, 2017.

The small developer, comprised of a married couple working out of their basement, is also releasing a remastered update of their debut game to accompany the Switch launch. The massive changes include tons of new fan-requested features, such as two new modes of play called “Story Mode” and “Scary Mode”.

Director Bill Gardner says, “We absolutely love the Switch, and view bringing it to a new platform is an opportunity to essentially relaunch the game based on the awesome feedback we’ve received from streamers and gamers at trade shows. And based on that feedback I could not be more stoked to allow gamers to experience Perception in new and exciting ways, both on the existing platforms and on the Switch.

With “Story Mode” gamers can explore the mansion and its history without the fear of being caught or killed.  It’s an immersive ghost story, so this walking sim mode is great for gamers who love deep narratives. In “Scary Mode” there are more aggressive enemies, and dying has more serious consequences.

The remaster also includes:

  • newly recorded lines from lead actress Angela Morris (Cassie, Poppets, Faith)
  • new audio to further enhance immersion and clarify narrative.
  • reworked gameplay systems including balance changes, new checkpoints, overhauled warning system and much more!
  • narrative enhancements to emphasize the story’s themes of control, judgment and oppression; which co-founder/writer Amanda Gardner found were not clear enough in the original version.

With the Switch,” said Perception writer Amanda Gardner, “not only have we added tons of new content, the new platform and updates have also allowed us to identify areas to clarify. We knew we were taking a lot on with a story that spans hundreds of years, and to further massage the narrative and highlight the themes, has been a hugely rewarding experience. We feel that the original version did not read the way we anticipated. This game is an homage to women overcoming both oppression and society’s expectations, and we believe in the remastered version, this is much more clear. It’s an important and timely topic, and we are thrilled to highlight those aspects.

Perception  will be available on Switch, along with the remastered updates on PlayStation 4, Xbox One & PC (Steam), on October 31, 2017, all at a sale price of $14.99.
