No-Rin is a comedy anime series focusing on agriculture student Kosaku Hata, who becomes devastated after his favorite idol announces her retirement from the music industry. This leads Kosaku to a small run with depression, causing him to skip his classes. His friends eventually snap him out of it, but to hi surprise the very woman he idolizes has entered his school and class as a transfer student. Kosaku now must try to win the heart of former idol turned agricultural student Ringo Kinoshita.
No-Rin is an 2014 seinen anime series, it is produced by Silver Link and licensed by Funimation. It is currently available on DVD and Blu-Ray in English dub.
No-Rin is full of cutesy art (more so for the female characters), agriculture, and ecchi. While I’m not much of an ecchi guy, I can admit that the series is genuinely funny and enjoyable throughout it’s twelve episode run. As the series progresses Kosaku much choose between childhood best friend Minori and Idol Ringo.
THE GOOD: No-Rin is a romance comedy about a young agricultural student named Kosaku who falls in love with an idol he’s never met, until she suddenly shows up in his class after retiring from the music industry. The love triangle between Kosaku, Minori, and Ringo becomes the central plot and provides most of the comedy, with the support characters expanding on it. Yes there’s ecchi, but it never gets in the way or feels too fan service.
THE BAD: If you’re not into ecchi or fan service then this one may not be for you.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: No-Rin has ecchi, but it’s a genuinely funny romance comedy anime series. Short and sweet, you can knock it out in a day or so if you binge. The laughs are plenty if you enjoy slapstick, ecchi, and some extreme facial comedy. Otaku Dome gives No-Rin: The Complete Series an 79 out of 100.
