The battle between robots and monster is making a comeback, the helm of Pacific Rim, The Strain, and Hell Boy; Guillermo del Toro has announced that Pacific Rim is officially getting the franchise treatment. Alongside the announcement of a sequel to last year’s Pacific Rim, del Toro announced that an animated series based in the Pacific Rim universe would also be coming. The sequel is coming sometime in 2017, while the animated spin-off will come sometime before the sequel hits theaters. It’s currently unknown who is developing the animated series as of this writing, oddly enough the studio behind the sequel film will be Universal Studios, the original studio behind the first film was Legendary Pictures, you can see the video of del Toro’s announcement below:
