The first six episodes of Gotham have shown an consistently great amount of pacing, character development, and drama. When word got out that WB was planning a Batman prequel rather than an actual series based on the Dark Knight, people were skeptical, and even more so when it was revealed that Commissioner James Gordon and a pre-teen Bruce Wayne would be the leads of the series. However, after six episodes Gotham has proven that a live-action Batman program can indeed work.

THE BAD: The B story can feel a little off from time to time, and the use of Bruce Wayne could be extended upon a bit more, but given that this is the early start of the 22 episode first season, anything can happen between now and the season finale.

Robin Lord Taylor is amazing as The Penguin.

OVERALL THOUGHTS: True to the universe it represents, Gotham is an genuine artifact into the Batman world. Full of great action, drama, and amazing performances from the characters respective actors, Gotham is a serie that will keep you plugged in. However, the B story can feel weak here and there, and more focus on Bruce Wayne wouldn’t hurt. Otaku Dome gives Gotham, the first six episodes an overall score of 90 out of 100.
