Update: Our Adult Swim contact has confirmed that season 4 of The Boondocks will end it’s near 10 year run. The Boondocks made it’s debut as a comic strip back in the 90s. The TV series debuted on Adult Swim in 2005 to critical acclaim and monster ratings success throughout its’ run in both premieres and reruns.

We’ve received a rather interesting PR touting season 4 of The Boondocks as being the final. We’ve reached out to Adult Swim and are awaiting confirmation. This isn’t surprising to be very honest, with the amount of time it takes to produce (approx. three years per season due to the upgrade to Korean animation), and the cost of animating the series overseas it wasn’t likely the series was moving on beyond a fifth season. If true this is a sad day, The Boondocks has been a fan favorite series world wide and it would be a shame to see it go. Season 4 of The Boondocks premieres April 21, 2014.
