I’m not really a fan of musicals be it animated or live-action, but Frozen is one of the few musical films that gets a pass from me. A lot of the songs such as “Build a Snowman” were really catchy and addictive. Frozen also featured some of the most beautifully animate sequences in not only Disney history, but animated film history as well. Kristen Bell & Idina Menzel did some top notch voice acting work throughout the film.

THE GOOD: The animation of Frozen stands out compared to more recent Disney animated films. The glossy computer animation was beautifully done, and everything came out well. Disney’s Tangled would probably come close to it animation wise. The songs were catchy and fun to listen to, and the characters we’re nicely done. As mentioned before the voice over work from the cast was top notch, most notably from Bell & Menzel.

Queen Elsa forming her Ice castle and Bell & Menzel performing “Let it Go” were by far the greatest highlights of the film. The castle formation was the greatest animation sequence I’ve seen in years. The character turn twist was a bit surprising, especially compared to what I was expecting to happen.

THE BAD: Obviously, if you’re not a fan of musicals in any shape, way, or form then Frozen might not be for you. I myself am not a fan of them, but Frozen definitely took me by surprise and it just might do the same for you.

OVERALL THOUGHTS: Froze is a charming, beautifully animated musical comedy. Songs such as “Build a Snowman” and “Let it Go” were catchy and addictive. Beautiful animation sequences are featured in Frozen, most notably Queen Elsa forming her ice castle in the mountains. this and great voice over work from Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, and the rest of the cast will make Frozen a film to remember for years to come. However, if you’re not into musicals then Frozen may night be for you, but even so give it a try because you just might be surprised. Otaku Dome gives Disney’s Frozen an 86 out of 100.
